The Ultimate Un-Rule - Do Whatever You Want (1:43 audio)

Lastly, she pictured to herself how this same little sister of hers would, in the after-time, be herself a grown woman; and how she would keep, through all her riper years, the simple and loving heart of her childhood: and how she would gather about her other little children, and make their eyes bright and eager with many a strange tale, perhaps even with the dream of Wonderland of long-ago: and how she would find a pleasure in all their simple joys, remembering her own child-life, and the happy summer days.

All these traditional rules and un-rules can be boiled down to one simple concept. In wonderland, anything goes. Like a child playing make-believe, you get to do whatever you want. You get to be whomever you choose. In wonderland, there are no rules except the ones YOU create. And since it is YOUR wonderland, you get to break those rules anytime you want, and make new ones, and break them too. When it comes down to it, when you do something that you want to do for yourself, the ONLY approach that works is to do it YOUR WAY.

My hope for you is that of the message on the last page of Lewis Carroll’s iconic children’s book. I should hope that as you venture through Wonderland you rediscover the kid-ness inside you, you remember the vast abundance of your imagination, thus capturing the ability to transform the mundane dull sounds and images of your life into curious characters and adventures of your day.
